Hearing Loss is fairly common, with one in five people in Australia not being able to hear properly.

Some things that you may notice is you're forgetting sounds such as your favourite tune,     your dog barking etc

Loss of Hearing can potentially impact you in many ways including:

  • how you interact with your family,  friends and work colleagues
  • how you are treated by others,
  • it can also impact your social life and lower your quality of life

Given the above, it is important to be aware whether you could have hearing loss.

Could you have Hearing Loss?

There are numerous things that you may have found that could indicate that you are not hearing as well as you used to.  Ask yourself the following questions....

Do you ask people to repeat themselves because they are not clear?

Do you find it difficult to follow conversations when a group of people are talking?

Have you noticed that people are mumbling or not speaking clearly?

Do others tell you how loud you have the radio or television?

Have you noticed it difficult to hear the telephone or doorbell?

Do you hear better with one ear than the other?

Have you been exposed to loud noises such as at work or listening to music (such as concerts)?

Has a friend or family member mentioned that you may have a problem with your hearing?

If you have answered YES to 3 or more of the above questions then you have hearing loss.
